Have you ever wondered what a career in psychiatry looks like?
The College careers events have been running annually since 2011 and are aimed at medical students, interns or medical graduates who may be considering applying for specialist training in Psychiatry, or who would simply like to find out more about what a career in Psychiatry in Ireland entails. This year our careers days have moved online, with free registration now open for upcoming events on the 27th and 28th August.
Organised by the CPsychI Trainee Committee, these events will be presented across two half-days of live and interactive webinars. Featuring across the programmes will be senior consultant specialists in psychiatry who will give insights into the sub-specialties of psychiatry, including Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychiatry of Later Life and Addiction Psychiatry. Attendees will also hear from a service user from the College REFOCUS group who will speak about their personal experience with mental illness and the mental health system. Additionally, information on the training pathway in Psychiatry and details on how to apply to the Basic Specialist Training scheme will be provided. The sessions will be facilitated by current trainees in psychiatry who will be available for questions throughout.
Registration is open to current medical students, interns or NCHDs and are completely free to attend.
The events will take place from Dublin on Thursday, 27 August and from Galway on Friday, 28 August, both from 10AM to 1PM.
