Postgraduate Training

The goal of the postgraduate training department is to ensure the quality, delivery, monitoring and ongoing development of postgraduate training in psychiatry in Ireland. We provide support and guidance to qualified doctors aspiring to become psychiatry trainees, doctors in training (BST & HST) and educational supervisors throughout the training journey.

Key responsibilities of the Postgraduate Training department include

  • Recruitment to Basic and Higher Specialist Training programmes
  • Continuous Improvement and development of Curriculum for Training and Regulations
  • Supporting the Continuous Assessment Process and ePortfolio management
  • Delivery of the Clinical Examination, 3 sittings per year
  • Accreditation of training sites, training posts and training programmes
  • Development of learning resources through webinars, courses, eLearning and simulation
  • Support for the CPsychI Trainee Committee
  • Support for non-training NCHDS through the CPD-SS programme
  • Support and guidance for all members and trainees involved in psychiatry specialist training programmes
  • Careers events to provide information for medical students and qualified doctors aspiring to become specialists in psychiatry.
