Postgraduate Training

This section provides information and help to those qualified doctors seeking to undertake specialist training in psychiatry, medical students and doctors in training considering it and for the general public.

The College of Psychiatrists of Ireland (CPsychI) is responsible for all aspects of postgraduate training in psychiatry in Ireland. It aims to provide the best possible training for qualified doctors at both basic and higher ‘Specialist’ level in psychiatry.

Applicants who are completing the College of Psychiatrists of Ireland BST programme in Psychiatry (i.e. those who have received a satisfactory outcome at their BST3 Annual Review of Progress and passed the College’s Clinical Exam) and are eligible to streamline should click on ‘Streamlining Candidates’ box below for guidance.

    DOCUMENT UPLOADS - All documentation should be clearly labelled

    File size limits: 5MB
    File types permitted: PDF, TXT, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, PNG

    Completed Application Form

    A scanned / PDF of Medical Council of Ireland Registration Certificate (if applicable)

    An email from the Medical Council of Ireland attesting eligibility for entry in the Trainee Specialist Division of the Medical Register (if applicable)

    A scanned / PDF of IELTS or OET Test Results (if applicable)

    A scanned / PDF transcript of exam results from your Medical School/University (if applicable)

    A scanned / PDF of MRCPsych (or equivalent) Certificate (if applicable)

    A scanned / PDF of CCBST Certificate (if applicable)

    A scanned colour copy of Passport Identification page (including picture) (if applicable)

    Two Scanned / PDF HST appraisal forms (with relevant hospital stamp) must be included


    A scanned / PDF of other degree/diplomas/documents (if applicable)
