The College of Psychiatrists of Ireland are delighted to host a live twitter Q&A with psychiatrists in collaboration with ReachOut.com on Tuesday, 25th October. Between 7 and 9 pm, consultant psychiatrists Dr Gerry McCarney (Child and Adolescent and Addiction Psychiatry) and Dr Helen Keeley (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and ReachOut Ireland’s head of clinical guidance) will be on the @ReachOutIRL Twitter account, taking any questions for yourself or someone you know about youth mental health, recovery, addiction, psychiatry, and what it entails.

Nowadays we spend so much of our time online. Research by ReachOut found that third level students first port of call is to go online if something is bothering them. This Twitter Q&A aims to demystify the area of psychiatry and encourage mental health awareness, and is not in anyway meant to be about delivering diagnoses online.

To get involved, tweet your questions and include the hashtag #AskPsych.

We want to encourage safe and helpful conversations online, so if you would rather pose a question in a private message please email general@reachout.com beforehand, and we will respond over Twitter on the evening without identifying you.
